Tattooed Freckles

I was just researching constellations and their mythologies behind them trying to figure out which one I want tattooed on my hand, just the dots, not the connecting lines (I can do that when I'm bored). And then I decide to check out my favorite site Lookbook.nu and find that there is a girl representing the stars on her chest wearing a tee shirt with the major constellations on it! I can see constellations becoming the next unicorn trend...

Does Your Chain Hang Low

Return to Me is a brand that is all about individualism and this can be seen with their new necklace. An abstract moon shape punched out with tiny holes hangs from a thin chain. The tiny holes are used for the yarn that is included in the package to sew on any decoration, words, or symbols on. This gives the customer a chance to say that they made a piece of jewelry for themselves without going through too much trouble. The brand even likes purchasers to post their unique creations on the website. These necklaces are definitely statement pieces that say more than "I bought this at Dillard's." So come on guys, get your craft on!

International Imprint

Since 2005 Target has sold temporary lines from designers overseas with its Go International line. This is a way to bring notice to the up and coming designers to the masses in the US at affordable pricing! I have been obsessed with this line since it has been around and was so upset to find when I moved to NYC that the closest target was 45 minutes away in Brooklyn, not a place I venture to too often. Here is a list of most, if not all the designers who have partaken in this brilliant collaboration:

Luella Bartley

Tara Jarmon

Paul and Joe

Behnaz Sarafpour

Proenza Schouler

Patrick Robinson

Libertine

Alice Temperley

Erin Fetherston

Rafe(handbags/footwear)

Devi Kroell (handbags)

Hollywould (handbags/footwear)

Fiorucci

Zac Posen

Thakoon

Jovovich-Hawk

Rogan

Rodarte

My top 5 favorites out of this long list of internationals are

Behnaz Sarafpour

Erin Fetherston

Jovovich-Hawk

Proenza Schouler

and most recently in stores today Rodarte. I would have bought the whole line if I had the money!
I have yet to find a handbag/foot wear line that I have been drawn to. Maybe it will come in the future lines to come!

Tell me your favorite Go International Line!

Ba Bye Bones

Brigette, Germany's most popular women’s magazines has opted out of using professional size 0 models and instead is using ‘real women’ to model clothing in response to reader’s outcries of protruding bones.

This information made me extremely excited to find a pioneer of a major fashion media source pioneering in the walk towards a healthier world. With me having a past with anorexia and now having a friend being admitted to rehab for the 2nd time for an eating disorder, I see that this is the stepping stone that we need to bring unhealthy images out of the hands of those influenced by the skeletal pictures. If only we could bring this brilliant move overseas to US magazines. I mean, a brilliant designer is a designer that can design for every body type.

You can check out the images from their fist issue for the year 2010 at:

Perfect Pairings

In the spring semester I will be interning for stylist, Patti Wilson. I have only had a ten minute “interview” with one of her assistants and have yet to meet her. I knew I wanted to work for her after viewing her work online. The things she pulls together are edgier than ever and ingenious pairings. She creates a look to every last detail from the clothing down to the tights, head pieces and finger decorations. The touch of her eccentric talent can be pointed out in all of her work. I cannot wait to work with and delve into the mind of such a unique creator.

Wondering Minds

A photographer who intrigued me when wondering the galleries of NYC was Holly Andres. Her Sparrow Lane collection presented a feel of Nancy Drew, one of my favorite book series to read as a child. In each shot there is something mysterious occurring that is somewhat peculiar. May it be a trail of hair clippings or a purse illuminating from the inside, Holly knows how to make the viewer want more. She nails each shot from the background to the costumes to the lighting to the facial expressions. Brilliance in every shot!

Vanilla Twilight

Black and navy together have been a no-no together for the past many decades. That has changed for the New Year. If you pull it off right it can look like a rich night sky covering your body. Here are some images of people who were able to make this faux pa a trend.

This was a kid in my class who always dressed on trend. I love the pairing of his grey business slacks with a casual navy and white striped jacket and chucks. The black leather jacket adds a harsher edge to the look. The mixing of styles is what makes someone stand out from the rest.
