Self Found

I adore when people know who they are and when you look at their work you know who did it because it is so them. Well, Paolo Roversi(photographer) has this. In all of his work there is an eerie wonder with the lighting, or better lack of lighting and blur effect to the photo. Its not an eerie ending feeling, its more of a demented curiosity for the beauty in the shadows and the night time.

You Caught My Eye at First Snap

In the most recent issue of V magazine I was drawn to a spread that was very controversial. I wanted to see more, and yet I was scared to keep flipping the page. The pictures were haunting and I started looking at the photographer's, Mario Sorrenti, other work and adored what I saw. He has a way of getting the attention of the viewer.

Edible Locks

I think its time for me to go lighter! Either the My Little Pony look with blond over all and light blue and pink high lights underneath or luscious cotton candy pink! Yummy!

My Future

I don't know if it is the brilliant photography by Greg Kadel or the styling by Patti Wilson in the recent issue of Numero spread The Kid that has captured my full attention. I believe though what made me want to post this spread is that it is what i would like my future to behold: me somehow growing out a full blond Afro (my hair can only hold a slight wave) and somehow popping out a 100% African American baby (I am 100% Caucasian) and running around with him with a vintage stroller all glammed up in the middle of a meadow with the sun shining. I hope this puts as many sparkles in you eyes as it did for me.

Introducing my Love

I do not think any designer has ever pleased me as much as John Galliano has! He has inspired me with his peculiar designs for projects I am working on and dressing. He constantly knows how to serve the punches without causing bruises to the brain. His designs can almost be on the verge of tacky, yet there is an elegance that takes any thought of that out of your head. Not only does John give special detail to his collection he also creates a show by making sure that the hair and make up and also the surroundings of the show are in sync with everything. His style changes and yet when you see his collection there is a signature to it that makes you know that it was created by non other than he. So here I would like to post all of my favorite looks that he has produced.

Its a Long Story

The length of skirts have dropped to the floor! They flow and flatter the body with each step taken. They have a 1960's feel, which you know is my weakness, however with a witchy feel when paired with boots as they are for the fall. Now you don't need Halloween to play dress up.

You Made My Day

It was a dreary rainy day in New York City. Huge droplets were clashing onto my umbrella and the ground making their way onto me somehow. Everyone in their rain gear. Grey and gloomy. Until I met a boy who knew how to brighten my spirits with his color and originality. You do not see many New Yorkers going out of the dull color scheme of the neutrals once the weather starts to drop. I applaud those who can keep up the cheeriness even in the nastiest of times.

Am I too Late?

I know, I know this is a Spring collection, but I have not been inspired by any of the Fall shows so far! Everything seems like it could be taken right off the runway and worn onto the streets this season. Bored! However, Jan Taminiau got me out of the winter funk by placing images of alien queens in my head! The models hair seemed to be cone head inspired with the dresses are so innovative! Also note the shoes!

Splash of Color

I came across this girl outside of the FIT dorms and had to stop to take her picture! Her outfit is brilliance! I adore the colored tights trend, but it can come across tacky if done the wrong way. Hailey here pulled it off with tact by keeping the rest of her pieces neutral. I adore everything about this outfit from the blazer with the leopard pocking out of the sleeves with the fur vest over top and the scrunchy socks spilling out over her boots! Black and brown look wonderful together this season!

You Woo Me

While I had some time in between classes I decided to take a look at FIT's Fashion Museum. Right now there is an exhibit in the basement on the Influence of America on Fashion. As I was searching through the gallery I came across Jean Yu. As a fan of light airy fabrics there is no way I could not like this designers Grecian shaped dresses made of the sheerest fabric around, attatched with a simple band. It is simplicity at its best!

Welcome to My Dream World

The couture shows stomped the cat walk about a week ago and had me all googly-eyed. This is my favorite time of year, a time when fantasies become reality. People always tell me that they do not get fashion shows because they show clothing that could not be worn out on the streets. This is true for more than half the stuff that prances down the runway, but what do you think inspires the ones who are making your ready to wear clothing? The runways!!! Not only are they inspiring the ready to wear designers, but they also get people like me to get to feel for the few minutes of viewing the shows a giddy feeling in their hearts. Here are some looks that got my pulse racing...Elie Saab 's collection consisted of ethereal dresses colored as light as a baby's skin and whimsically detailed with lace and diamonds. I especially adored the face framing braid for the hair style.

Valentino's line looked as though it could have been inspired by MGMT's Electric Feel song with their use of neon bright colors paired with neutral tans. The use of blue make up for the eyes and shoulders looking as though the models acquired blues sunburns from another planet made me want to go where they had been.

She Had Diamonds in Her Eyes

The first day interning for Patti Wilson took me all around the city doing ‘pick ups’ for our next two photo shoots, one being a couture spread of Lindsey Lohan and the other being Vogue Japan. I am always surprised at the locations being sent to because most are set up in apartments. So I go to the places directed and get nervous that I have the wrong address and that someone is going to call the police on me for knocking on their door. Anyways, one of my destinations was just like this. I almost turned around and left, and then a lady with red hair answers the door. She invites me inside into a kitchen. I have this feeling it is a bad horror film waiting to happen until we turn the corner to a room filled with these sunglasses. She and her sister create them at their apartment together. I was so intrigued by the look of the glasses and had to show them to you. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did! I introduce to you Mercura…

The Boys are Back in Town

Its that time for Men's Fall 2010 fashion shows! I pulled three designers that tickled my fancy and two that made me roll over laughing, not in a good way. Thanks for dressing my future boyfriend Victor and Rolf! Just one suggestion, slimmer pants please.

I adore this jacket by Burberry Prorsum with its zipper action around mid stomach and the military structure.

Neil Barrett added a fun touch with his use of sporadically clumped, different sized polka dots on his clothing.

I could see this look working for the brother of Kevin(Elijah Wood) in the movie Sin City, but other than that Henrik Vibskov's show was a complete fail.Do you really think those over-sized head phones would keep out the noise of the criticism of on lookers Walter Van Beirenbonck?
