A photographer who intrigued me when wondering the galleries of NYC was Holly Andres. Her Sparrow Lane collection presented a feel of Nancy Drew, one of my favorite book series to read as a child. In each shot there is something mysterious occurring that is somewhat peculiar. May it be a trail of hair clippings or a purse illuminating from the inside, Holly knows how to make the viewer want more. She nails each shot from the background to the costumes to the lighting to the facial expressions. Brilliance in every shot!

Vanilla Twilight
Black and navy together have been a no-no together for the past many decades. That has changed for the New Year. If you pull it off right it can look like a rich night sky covering your body. Here are some images of people who were able to make this faux pa a trend.
This was a kid in my class who always dressed on trend. I love the pairing of his grey business slacks with a casual navy and white striped jacket and chucks. The black leather jacket adds a harsher edge to the look. The mixing of styles is what makes someone stand out from the rest.
Sarah Jessica Parker pairs a black studded belt with a navy blue silk dress.

Vegan in Furs
All of a sudden my hippie character pulled its way fourth and I am now on the hunt for a Penny Lane jacket, just like the one Kate Hudson wears in the movie Almost Famous. This obsession to find the essence of Penny caused me to stumble upon other people who have embraced the free-to-be style and way of life. The layered necklaces, large stone rings, fur coats and long messy hair complete this look. Here are a few of people to get inspired by. Jennifer Herrema (top), Kate Hudson as Penny Lane in Almost Famous (middle), Girl from lookbook (bottom).
My Valves Leak for You
While interning for Lauri Eisenberg (stylist) for a day I happened upon this necklace at one of my “runs” they had me do for the day. Immediately I fell into a deep hole of love for this locket made by Pamela Love. There is nothing more romantic than giving someone your whole heart (or at least something that looks like it). No more cheesy hearts please and thank you.

Max Chaoul
I remember meeting Max on my one month study abroad to Lyon, France. It was the high light of the whole trip, honestly. To be in the same room as something as stunning as his designs was mind blowing. As I looked around at all of the couture dresses I placed an image in my head of what the person who created the designs would look like. I imagined someone young probably with a few peircings and crazy hair because of the fresh, vibrant look of the clothes on display. He comes and he is an older, polished man. Took me by surprise.
He is well known in Lyon for his talent, but not as famously known outside of it. He deffinitly deserves the spotlight though in my eyes.
I hope to someday be married in one of his creations.
Stud Muffin
We saw a huge movement towards studs this past season, and they do not look as though they will be leaving any time soon. Studs could be found on everything from bags to shoes to jean jackets. I know I was one of the many that went out and bought studs and bejeweled anything I could get my hands on. Well now this season we can see the gems on tights and leggings. These master pieces will brighten up the drab pair of opaque legs and create a magical fell to the dull winters' covered legs. Doo.ri's Fall 2009 collection depicts these accessories so beautifully. For a more casual and practical way to pull off this fashion, try Urban Outfitters new studded leggings. Add some sparkle to your limbs!

Creation
I have been wanting to create a blog for a while, but haven't had the push till now to create one. Today Teen Vogue's Editor, Amy Astley came to my school to speak about the magazine's new book, Teen Vogue Handbook:An Insiders Guide to Careers in Fashion. Amy had a fashionable look in her magenta power shouldered top and stilletto high heels, but she was not what I was expecting from an editor with her almost meek presence on the stage. She explained to the audience in our little amphitheater that there are many ways to get a career in fashion, but it is most helpful to create a blog that shows your thoughts and ideas that employers can check out. This blog will cover mostly fashion- street fashions and images from magazines. I will also include some art and photography and music that I relate to.
The name of the blog basically describes me in an odd way. I like to create odd pairings that are almost whimsical. When you think of actual velvet underwear you think of something common with a luxurious spin to it. It is a twist on an everyday item. I mean, who doesn't want to own a pair of velvet underwear?
